Fibre-optic rotary joints (FORJs) are the optical equivalent to electric slip rings. They allow for the uninterrupted transmission of optical signals while rotating around their shaft. Fibre-optic rotary joints (FORJs) are widely used in the telecommunications industry and in defence technology, such as with radars, robotic systems, oil drilling, unmanned craft, sensors, and other applications that require continuous rotation.
Fibre-optic rotary joints (FORJs) are the optical equivalent to electric slip rings. They allow for the uninterrupted transmission of optical signals while rotating around their shaft. The most cost and size efficient options are the single channel designs. Since fiber optic offers almost endless of bandwidth you can multiplex your required signals and run them through one fiber. They are ideal when combined with electrical slip rings or RF rotary joints or when space is tight in general. Though very small they still feature standard optical performance (<-60 dB crosstalk, <5 dB insertion loss, and >45 dB return loss). All channels can accommodate either singlemode or multimode fibers. It is also possible to combine the two types of fibers in one device.

Our RF Rotary Joints offers a non-contacting rotary joints which are based on non-contacting coupling mechanisms such as capacitive, inductive, transmission line or transformer coupling. These extremely long-lived rotary joints are available as coaxial and waveguide units for frequency ranges up to 110 GHz. The maximum signal transmission bandwidth is about 20% of the upper frequency to be transmitted. Non-contacting rotary joints are used for narrowband transmissions. Additionally, with special coupling structures, two different bands can be transmitted within one module (e.g. X- and L-Band).

Motorised cable reels provided by Penlink are technologically advanced and sturdily designed – for both continuous operation in ports and container terminals and reliable power supply to construction cranes as well as overhead cranes, excavators, and hoisting devices. They are designed to meet requirements for high speeds, dynamic processes, large cable cross sections and high tractive forces. The configuration of cable reels and gears is tailored to the required travel speeds and distances.
Motorised cable reels that we provide are the ideal solutions when it comes to deliver reliable energy supplies to all types of cranes, excavators and numerous other types of hoisting equipment. For every installation set-up and supply requirement, we configure the optimum cable reel with suitable drive units and accessories in order to meet the demands of mobile consumers.
Our highly resilient reel bodies made of galvanised and deep-drawn sheet metal are available in welded and screw-mounted versions. If required, we can offer a variety of surface treatments to withstand even the toughest climatic or chemical influences. Hartmann & König cable reels can be equipped with virtually all drive types and can be perfectly matched by our specialists to the respective installation set-up.
