EMCCD Cameras

EMCCDs employ a unique architecture that enables the device to greatly amplify (>1000 times) the number of resulting electrons produced by the incident light. This feature gives the EMCCD a far superior advantage over existing CCD technology in low light conditions. The Electron-Bombarded CMOS Image Sensor (EB-CMOS-IS) is a novel PEA technology and has just recently become commercially available. Although the EB-CMOS-IS-based applications demonstrate outstanding sensitivity, they are exploited today far from their maximal potential.

CMOS Nocturn

NOCTURN camera is a rugged low-light camera module that features high-definition resolution, high sensitivity and high dynamic range with low power consumption. It provides color or monochrome real-time imaging capabilities – from daylight to bright starlight – in the visible and near infrared spectrum. Lynx CMOS

The LYNX CMOS Sensor is the first operational Night Vision and Homeland Security Digital Sensor based on full solid-state technology operating in both daylight and low-light level (equivalent to quarter moon).

The LYNX CMOS Sensor offers new perspectives in connecting night vision to Command and Control (C4I), in urban and suburban surveillance at night and in advanced applications such as vehicle protection/surveillance and fusion of digital images such as visible (at night) and infra-red (IR).

KAMELEON COLOR CMOS

The KAMELEON CMOS color imaging sensor is the first operational sensor specifically designed with Night Vision, Homeland Security, Surveillance and Scientific applications in mind. This solid-state CMOS sensor provides excellent color imaging across varying light conditions, from daylight to low-light levels - such as those found during a quarter-moon.

The KAMELEON CMOS pixel architecture offers the best compromise between inherent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), high resolution and intrascene dynamic range. With total read-out noise below 4 e- without cooling, the KAMELEON CMOS sensor outperforms all low light imaging sensors down to 4 mlx while still supporting frame rates up to 100 fps at a full SXGA (1280 x 1024) resolution.

TIME-OF-FLIGHT DETECTORS

PHOTONIS offers the fastest Time-of-Flight Detectors on the market, with previously unobtainable levels of temporal resolution, dynamic range, and high mass detection sensitivity for Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry.  TOF detectors are available to support Standard, BiPolar, Co-Axial, High Temperature, Ultra-Fast, and Off-Axis TOF applications.

Advanced Performance Detectors

PHOTONIS’ Advanced Performance Detectors (APDs) are plug-and-play electo-optic assemblies which provide a complete housing, facilitating manufacturing assembly, repair or replacement to mass spectrometers and other machines. APDs are available for new machines or as replacement cartridges for existing models.

Over 200 types are currently available. APDs are available with cartridge-mounted microchannel plates, further simplifying additional repairs.

Channel Electron multiplier

Channeltron® Electron Multipliers are durable and efficient detectors of positive and negative ions as well as electrons and photons. PHOTONIS’ electron multipliers also offer the highest dynamic range to assure an absolutely linear response beyond the limits of most analytical instruments.

Channeltrons® are available in a variety of shapes and sizes including the MAGNUM®, Spiraltron, miniature and support standard and high-pressure applications.

Electron Generator Arrays

PHOTONIS’ patented ELECTROGEN™ Electron Generator Arrays (EGAs) consist of millions of precision glass tubes fused together to produce a uniform and mechanically rigid structure. They are processed such that, when a voltage is applied across the thickness, each pore produces a beam of electrons. Because each of the millions of pores produce electrons, the resultant electron flux is extremely uniform and dense.

EGAs can be used as the electron source in electron impact ionization source applications. This technology has the advantage of performing as a cold ionization source, which eliminates pyrolytic effects that occur when the heat generated by the filament chemically changes the unknown substances to be identified.

Hybrid Photo Diode

The PHOTONIS Hybrid Photo Diode provides an alternate technique for photon detection. The HPD amplifies an electron in a vacuum tube and bombards it onto a silicon diode. For each impact, a gain of between 2000 and 3000 is achieved. A diode array converts the signal to pixels. Hybrid Photo Diodes can be focused by proximity or electrostatically. A fiber-optic entry window is available as an option, to allow the HPD to process signals from scintillating fibers without a signal loss due to the coupling in the connection.

Microchannel Plates

A microchannel plate (MCP) is an electron multiplier for detecting X-rays, ultraviolet radiation and charged particles. The output is a two-dimensional electron image which preserves the spatial resolution of the original input radiation, but with a linear gain up to 1000. This may be used for exciting a phosphor screen placed close to the output, giving a visual representation of the radiation pattern. Alternatively, the electron image can be read out by, for example, a wedge-and-strip or fast delay-line anode array. We offer a broad range of sizes, shapes and options to support a number of imaging applications.
